REFLEX product suite delivers significant efficiencies to a resource project in Oman

Earth Science Consultancy Centre (ESCC) successfully deployed the IMDEX Structural-IQ solution at a brownfield exploration project in Yanqul, Sultanate of Oman, where operator adoption time was minimal and the consultancy productivity was improved dramatically. .

During a project feasibility assessment, Earth Science Consultancy Centre (ESCC) used the REFLEX ACTIII™, REFLEX EZ-TRAC™, REFLEX IQ-LOGGER™ and IMDEXHUB-IQ™ for the first time at a Copper-Gold brownfields exploration project in Yanqul, Sultanate of Oman.

Using the IMDEX Structural-IQ Solution of REFLEX instrumentation and the IMDEXHUB-IQ™ delivered ESCC significant time efficiencies that greatly improved productivity.

Core orientation, downhole surveying and structural logging were new processes for the client. ESCC required effortless, accurate and reliable instruments to confirm ore resources for five significant Copper-Gold sulphide prospects in Oman.

Successful integration of the Structural-IQ solution into ESCC’s workflows was key to achieving optimum performance. Although IMDEX Solutions and REFLEX instruments are known for being intuitive, IMDEX also provided training on how to use the instrumentation and systems on site which ensured operator adoption and success.

REFLEX tools are very cost effective, very good quality and easy to QC. It also saves a lot of time compared to traditional methods.

Project Outcome

Users were able to operate the tools immediately after training was completed. The structural and downhole survey data was acquired and analysed significantly faster than expected, which resulted in greater productivity for ESCC.

This was particularly apparent when logging structural information using REFLEX IQ-LOGGER™ and viewing and approving the data in the IMDEXHUB-IQ™ as opposed to traditional methods.

During the project, 3D modelling was sped up by automated calculation of the dip and dip direction of structural features in the IMDEXHUB-IQ™ based on the true trajectory of the boreholes.

Further contributing to the increased speed and efficiency, the information collected by the tools was recorded in real time in IMDEXHUB-IQ™. The integrity of the data is maintained through no manual data intervention. A qualified geologist could log into IMDEXHUB-IQ™ and approve the data, whether they were on site or remote.

Expediting the project even more is the logistical advantage that IMDEX offers as a “one stop shop” over dealing with multiple suppliers.
