Reactive versus proactive drilling: introducing the AMC BOS™

Content While no one would argue that fixing things as quickly as possible when they break is important, few realise the high costs associated with solely practising this mode of operation. Down the borehole, you can’t always predict when or how things will go wrong. And as accountability and productivity targets for drillers intensify, traditional drilling methods, such as grouting, casing and rod greasing are leaving too much room for error. With over 30 years of experience supporting the drilling industry, AMC Drilling Fluids & Products thought it was time to develop a proactive measure against downhole issues – leading […]

Solid results: Managing risk with drilling fluids

Drilling fluids are composed of a wide variety of chemicals. While the majority of Drilling Fluid Products are designed to minimise their impact on the environment, there are still those which can pose risks to Health and Safety or which may be harmful to the fauna and flora or contaminate waterways or land areas. Vigilance is required not only during the direct handling of drilling fluids and chemicals but also as part of their wider use in the drilling process.

Rising to the challenge of waterwell drilling in Cape Town

As dam levels in Cape Town, South Africa sink to critical levels, the city is well into its Water Resilience Plan. Both council and residents are now turning their attention to groundwater to reduce some of the pressure on municipal water sources. In the harsh summer heat, residents have been reduced to a usage of around 25 litres of water per day, from one of 200 collection points spread out across Cape Town.
